PTI Challenge Day 2

Well its day 2 of our challenge, and today, rather than taking inspiration and producing a card, I did my best to copy Nicole Heady's card below (original post by Nicole is here - scroll down a bit for this card).

Anyway, this is my version. I don't have the exact polkadot stamp set used, and rather than tearing a page from a book I stamped the written background.

I'm pretty pleased with the result. I'm getting alot out of these challenges - finding ways of using stamp sets I already have, and dies. It really makes you think about how with a little adjustment, you can get by.
Not sure I'll do tomorrows challenge (at work all day), or Sunday's (having a fun 'playday' with some fellow stampers. But I might do a 'catch up' on Monday. Just need to pick at least one project per day to find inspiration from.

PTI Challenge

There is a group of us over at ILWS that love PTI products, but this month we are trying to resist the new release stamps and dies, so have challenged ourselves to create something that takes inspiration from the release projects, using current stash that we already have.

This is the first card by Nicole Heady (her orignal post can be found here)

And my slightly more muted version - I made a little mistake in the stamping, so had to change the orientation, so I could stick my sentiment over the top to hide it! A very simple card, that really didn't take long to make at all.

And the next card by Nicole that I took my inspiration from:

And my card, agian in soft colours. Had to make my own gingham pattern, using some distressed stripes, and instead of using the simple framed shape (not yet released), I used mat stack 4 die and stamp set, and Fillable Frames 12 for the sentiment. I've loaned my flower die to someone, but managed to find this felt flower I'd had hanging around to use instead.

It was a fun challenge. And I'm going to try pick a project from the next few release days to take inspiration from too. Hopefully will take enough of the shine off the new stuff for me to not want to go straight out and buy it! At least for now.

Christmas Banner

Never did quite get around to uploading those pics! Even with all 3 at school now, I never seem to have enough time.

Here is a Christmas banner that I made for our dining room. Its only just finished, so this may not be its final position (hubby will probably object as he'll be walking into it every time he goes to open/close the blinds). This is the colour scheme for the Christmas table though, so its definately staying in the dining room.

Bazzill dotty card (red and blue), SU - kraft card, and PTI dies.

More Cards

I have a sprained ankle this week, at my step class.Didn't seem too bad at the time, but after driving home, having a shower and finally sitting down for some lunch it was achy, and when I got up after my leisurely lunch it had seized up. Still had children to collect, shopping to put away, ballet class (not me, my 3yr old). By that time it had given up, was very painful, and I couldn't move it, or wriggle my toes. After a visit to the Dr, was advised to go to A&E incase I'd broken a bone. Fortunately not, but was a long wait for me and hub. Lots of rest, no driving, and a few simple exercises. So a few days later, this is what I have produced. I have to admit, the first one I made a few weeks ago, and only just got round to photographing today.

All Stampin Up supplies

The next one uses PTI's button basics set, along with the last 2 - should have put them up in a better order!

This one is another Stampin Up set, and was for my lovely husband, who has been helping me out this week with the children, and cooking etc. It it roughly what we look like - except I never wear dresses/skirts these days (maybe a rare 'occasion')

This last one was for my great friend

Oh, and 4 days later, I'm still hobbling around, and will attempt driving over the weekend!

Relaxing Day

Busy days with the children most of the week. Discovered yesterday when it came to making lunch that my helpful children had knocked over a pot of cream in the fridge when putting the shopping away. My friend had told me that was not a wise thing to do, (I was on the phone at the time talking to her while they were putting away). I should have listened. Anyway, yesterday I cleaned the fridge - open pot of cream was at the top - also had to clean off fruit, yogurts, jars..... As the cream had dripped down onto each shelf it had not contained itself to just the back of the shelf.
So yesterday was a cleaning day for me.

So when it came to today, my hands were feeling crafty - I had a present tag to make, and as the children had left me alone, once the tag was done, I continued to craft. Just pottering and playing with my papertrey sets. Got several cards started, but this is the only finished one.

Got the idea for the bird from the button set on PTI site, but as I don't have that set, I improvised, a flurish for the tail, hand drawn beak, and feet from the birdhouse set - sorry I have no idea what they are all called!
Pottered all morning - so nice to play and for some reason my children didn't really interfere with me. Took the waterslide to the wise friend in the afternoon. More nudity, so couldn't possibly post the photos! Naked bottoms seem to slide much better on wet slides.

A Passion for Papertrey / CPS Challenge

I'm kind of killing 2 birds with 1 stone here. Entering the challenge on the fabulous new blog for UK PTI, A Passion for Papertrey - to use PTI products to create a card, and at the same time also entering the CPS card sketch challenge.

And I've even learn't how to link too (I hope).

Just a simple card - one of the ladies I do my jewellery evening with sadly lost her mother, so I thought I'd do a card for her.

Supplies:
Basic cream cardstock, Ocean Tides layer, with 2 stamps from the new beyond borders set, stamped in vintage cream - all PTI. Brilliance black ink.
The ink was really thick and luscious, and I'm pleased with the coverage on the darker card.

I really like this stamp set, and I can see it being a useful addition to my collection.
